A Christmas Journey...

And other tales of interest.

I just read a CNN story about the post office getting a Christmas card to its destination 93 years late. Time magazine has posted a beautiful (and interesting) online photo essay of what lurks beneath the water in all 50 states. And Paul McCartney said some excellent things about EMI.

Turtle Power!

My production company, Superhero Productions, created the bonus features for Season 4 and Season 5 of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series, both of which are now available. For season 4, I spoke to Pat Fraley (the voice of Krang and other characters) and James Avery (the original voice of The Shredder), who many will recognize as Uncle Phil from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. I was able to track down all four of the original Turtles for Season 5's special features.

Internet on Airplanes?

You mean cell phones and Internet connections won't make an airplane blow-up after all? Well, then again, this is Jet Blue, whose public image isn't exactly stellar right now. But anyways, kudos to them for trying out the 'net on their planes. In other news I found interesting this morning, former President William Jefferson Clinton is now telling people he's always been against the Iraq war - despite his support of it in the run-up to the war and during the first year of it - and both the New York Times and Washington Post are basically giving him a free pass. Speaking of the war I'm feeling some deja-vu as I'm now reading story after story about the new National Intelligence Estimate report that says Iran gave up their nuclear weapons program a few years ago. Oh and the CIA destroyed some videos showing interrogations. Thankfully, Bill O'Reilly is on hand to tell us about important news stories like the War on Christmas. I'd like to remind anyone who regularly reads this blog that I'm a Christian. That doesn't mean my priorities start and end with what a Wal-Mart greeter does or does not say to me when I walk in this month, or that I back blowhards like O'Lielly just straight making things up. Christian priorities should be clean water, food, shelter, AIDS, injustice of all kinds, families... Seriously, what would Jesus do?!

ThrowDowney

Congrats Don Clark!

Guitar player for Demon Hunter (who I manage), co-founder of Invisible Creature, and one of my two best friends in the entire world, Don Clark, woke up this morning to find out he's been nominated for a GRAMMY! This is the third year in a row for Invisible Creature. Last year, his brother Ryan was nominated for the art and packaging for the band FAIR, and the year before for Norma Jean. Out of many fantastic packages (including Foo Fighters, Chris Cornell, Korn, and more), the voters chose this one:

VERY COOL! Congrats, Don!

Did Morgan Spurlock Find Bin Laden?!

This is one of the crazier stories I've heard in a while. If this is a prank, it's going to end this guy's career... Could it be possible that the Supersize Me director actually managed to do what the US government could not (or would not?) do?

Check out the MSNBC story here. (And yes, the movie actually does in fact seem to be called Where in the World is Osama bin Laden?).

BEST MOVIES

Still way too many to see to accurately say...

Get Stoked Geeks!

First of all, there's this Dark Knight teaser poster.

Second, Ray Park (who played Darth Maul in Episode I and The Toad in the first X-Men movie) has been cast as Snake Eyes in the G.I. Joe movie. This follows reports that Sienna Miller will be playing The Baroness. I really hope this movie is good.

There's an extended clip from the new Judd Apatow/ Seth Rogen comedy The Pineapple Express now online. (*Edit: Sorry the link I had no longer works).

Variety reports that Christian Bale is in talks to play John Conner in the FOURTH Terminator. While that news is rad, what is not rad, is that Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins is going to be directed by McG (Charlie's Angels).

Maggie Q ("Live Free or Die Hard") is in talks to play Silver Fox in the Wolverine movie.

The trailer for the second Chronicles - What? - Of Narnia movie, Prince Caspian, is now online. Check it out HERE or try going HERE.

And finally, Samuel L. Jackson will appear as Col. Nick Fury in the Iron Man movie and there's a rumor that he may show up in Incredible Hulk as the same character as well, possibly setting up an Avengers movie, according to Ain't it Cool News. Personally I find that last bit hard to believe, as the movies are from different studios.

My friends who wrote X2: X-Men United told me once upon a time that they wanted to have a newspaper headline that read "Mutants Attack White House" in the Dardevil flick. Both of those movies were made by Fox and it STILL didn't happen. You may recall that Ben Urich didn't work at the Daily Bugle in Daredevil. That's because that property is part of the Spider-Man "universe" in movie world, which is controlled by Sony. When James Cameron was going to make Spider-Man with Leonardo DiCaprio, he wanted Kingpin as one of his villains, but that character had already been sold off as part of the Daredevil canon. Confusing, eh? Let's just get some crossovers already!

William Shatner on the Set of Star Trek (1966).

Absolutely charming. This rules. Thanks to Movie City Indie.
