Pirate Jack Sparrow's latest box-office booty was something of a mixed bag.

Hesher!

This past weekend, I moderated two Q&As with "Hesher" writer / director Spencer Susser and star Devin Brochu at the AMC Broadway in Santa Monica and at my favorite place on Earth, ArcLight Hollywood, directly following screenings of the film. I'd like to thank Spencer, Devin and everyone who came out to these two events! Go see "Hesher!" The movie stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the title character, alongside Brochu, Rainn Wilson ("The Office"), Natalie Portman and the great Piper Laurie ("Carrie"). "Hesher" Interviews

I can't recommend this movie enough. I've been describing it as a mix of "Bad Santa," "Fight Club," "Beavis & Butthead" and some sort of dark indie family drama... Starring CLIFF BURTON (RIP) of Metallica. Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays "Hesher," a near-mystical like character who invades the lives of a grieving family, which includes Rainn Wilson. Will Ferrell Interview

The first time I met Will Ferrell was on the set of "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy" where I had the pleasure of watching him perform the same scene about forty different ways. I kept wondering, "How will this cut together as a real movie?!" More recently, I had a chance to speak with him about "Everything Must Go," a dramatic movie based on a (very) short story.
