Billboard: Scion Music 10 Year Celebration

Scion claims to have supported over 2,000 creators in the music, film, fashion and art communities, with roughly 10,000 events in 500 cities.

"Here's what I love most," declared an energetic Jack Hollis to a roomful of dinner guests. "We are tied up with zero major labels, major artists, major corporations [or] mainstream players. We have tied in all of it 100% to those who do art, who are creative, for the love that they have for their art. That's what Scion is about."

That was the message delivered by Scion's vice president during his opening remarks on Thursday night. Hollis was onstage speaking to a group of indie industry and business world VIPs invited to celebrate the company's near-decade long participation in music and the arts, which has included a variety of projects with cred bands across a broad spectrum from death metal to backpack hip-hop. MTV: Box Office Report

It wasn't Loki, an army of otherworldly Chitauri nor any other super-villain that finally defeated Captain America and his pals. A satiric adaptation of a 1970s soap opera and a big-budget action flick based on a board game tried and failed. Ultimately, it was another franchise with comic book roots that ended the nearly month-long reign of "The Avengers" at the top of the box office, as "Men in Black 3" became the #1 movie in America with an estimated $70 million debut over the four-day Memorial Day weekend. AP: Serj Tankian

SYSTEM OF A DOWN are touring this fall (with Deftones as support) and understandably, plenty of people are curious about when the semi-newly reactivated political/genre-bending juggernaut will release new music. Take a look at the schedule of SERJ TANKIAN, though. The well-spoken, energetic and good-natured frontman has no less than four new albums on the docket this year: his third rock-oriented solo album, Harakiri, due July 10 (pre-order it here); a jazz record called Jazz-Iz-Christ; the Fuktronic project with Jimmy Urine from Mindless Self Indulgence; and a symphony, Orca. How could he possibly make new music with System this year? Tankian was kind enough to spend some time with me over Skype, where he spoke candidly about the innumerable hats he wears as an artist, the changing music business (he predicted holograms!) and more.

MTV: Box Office Report

Of all the foes the Avengers have defeated, Universal Pictures may be the first to cry, "You sunk my battleship!" With another $55.1 million earned during its third week in domestic theaters, "The Avengers" held strong at #1 over the weekend as Earth's Mightiest Heroes fended off competition from three new contenders, including "Battleship." The big-budget action pic, loosely adapted from the vintage game, which featured the catchphrase "You sunk my battleship!" in its once-ubiquitous TV commercials, was a distant second with an estimated $25.3 million debut.

MTV: 'The Vampire Diaries' Michael Trevino

Get out your tissues, fans. There's going to be plenty of waterworks with tonight's season finale of "The Vampire Diaries."

We already know that Elena will finally choose between Stefan and Damon Salvatore; executive Producer Julie Plec has promised us that much for a few weeks. But that won't be the only romantic moment liable to generate tears on couches nationwide, according to Mystic Falls remaining vampire-werewolf hybrid.

"I'll tell you what: There is a scene between Caroline and Tyler that's gonna get ya," Michael Trevino promised, speaking to Hollywood Crush by phone. "It might even top the one you saw last week. [There will be] a lot of waterworks happening. Before we did the scene, I was like, 'I want to make females cry.'"

MTV: Box Office Report

When it comes to superhero team-ups, it looks like the whole truly is greater than the sum of its parts: "The Avengers" rocked the box office over the weekend, shattering all domestic opening weekends with an estimated $200 million kickoff. That take is significantly higher than the previous record holder, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2," which collected $169.2 million when it opened last year. MTV: Chris Zylka Talks Flash Thompson

When it comes to high school bullies, few are as iconic in geek culture as Flash Thompson. His first appearance dates all the way back to Spider-Man's debut in Amazing Fantasy #15, which sprang forth from the fertile minds of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in August, 1962. The blonde football star has taunted poor Peter Parker in various incarnations ever since.

"The Secret Circle" star Chris Zylka is the latest actor to interpret the role last played onscreen by future "True Blood" star Joe Manganiello, who played Flash in Sam Raimi's first "Spider-Man" film in 2002 and returned for a brief cameo in "Spider-Man 3." Zylka spoke to MTV News this week about his take on the character in this year's reboot, "The Amazing Spider-Man," which will, of course, pit him against Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker in the Mark Webb-directed flick.

MTV: 'The Secret Circle' Star Chris Zylka

Nick is back from the grave and his onscreen brother, played by Chris Zylka, promised "an emotional roller coaster" as "The Secret Circle" speeds closer to the season one finale with tonight's episode, "Prom." With the gang on the hunt for another crystal, there'll be more revelations about the events of 16 years ago which killed many of their parents (and what exactly John Blackwell's role in that was) and further developments with the witch hunters, the Blackwell sisters (!) and Jake's returned brother.
