MTV: Lamb Of God Singer Detained

Lamb of God's D. Randall "Randy" Blythe was detained in Prague this week. The heavy-metal singer could face five to 10 years in prison for an alleged altercation at a 2010 Lamb of God show that reportedly left a concertgoer dead, according to Czech media outlet Novinky. MTV: Box Office Preview

"Brave" will take aim at its second box-office bull's-eye this weekend even as an old lady, male strippers and a talking teddy bear look to take it down. Disney/Pixar's 13th consecutive #1 film faces new competition this weekend from the likes of "Madea's Witness Protection," "Magic Mike" and "Ted." CLICK HERE to read the rest of my report.

MTV: The Flaming Lips / Erykah Badu

If Erykah Badu truly doesn't want her video collaboration with the Flaming Lips to be seen, the band has other options.

Lead singer, guitarist and songwriter Wayne Coyne said in an O Music Awards interview Thursday (June 28) that his band's "dust-up" with the R&B singer has been mostly in fun. But he admitted that he doesn't know if the nudity-filled video for "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face," which Badu said made her feel "violated," will officially return.

"At the moment, I'm talking with [Dresden Dolls singer] Amanda Palmer about remaking the video and having Amanda sing it and just be in the video," Coyne said while onboard the O Music Awards bus, which is currently on a cross-country journey during which the band is likely to set a new Guinness World Record for most shows played in a day. My third cover story for Alternative Press this year! And there are three versions of the cover, each featuring three different singers from this year's Warped Tour.

MTV: Box Office Report

There's nothing unlucky about the number 13 for Disney/Pixar. Over the weekend, "Brave" became the 13th consecutive film from the animation unit behind "Toy Story" and "Wall-E" to debut at #1. The animated archery adventure hit a box-office bull's-eye to the tune of $66.7 million, according to estimates. CLICK HERE to read the rest of my report.

MTV: Box Office Report

Neither nostalgia for '80s hair metal nor a team-up of former "SNL" castmembers could overcome a bunch of homesick zoo animals at the box office over the weekend.

"Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted" was the #1 movie in America for a second weekend in a row, as families celebrated Father's Day with the voices of Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Jada Pinkett Smith and David Schwimmer to the tune of another $35.5 million. But both of the weekend's big new studio pics, "Rock of Ages" and "That's My Boy," underperformed, leaving the #2 slot for "Prometheus" to claim for a second consecutive week. The (sort of) "Alien" prequel took in another $20.2 million. CLICK HERE to read the rest of my report.

MTV: Box Office Preview

"Prometheus" predecessor "Alien vs. Predator" was something dreamed up in comic books that eventually made its way to theaters. This weekend, the big-screen baddies who originated in the 1979 classic "Alien" will battle perhaps their most fearsome foe yet: animals. Furry, brightly colored, cartoon animals. With celebrity voices. Whether the actual Xenomorphs seen in the movies that preceded Ridley Scott's new (sort-of) prequel show up onscreen won't be spoiled here. But one thing is for certain: "Prometheus" will face off against "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted" this weekend in a box-office race observers say will be extremely close. MTV Movie Awards: 'Twilight' Cast

Some things in life get old after the third or fourth time. Winning Best Movie at the MTV Movie Awards? Not so much. Not too many people are in a position to comment on that feeling, of course. And not too many movie franchises achieve the "phenomenon" status of "The Twilight Saga" ('though "The Hunger Games" may be on its way!), which collected a fourth consecutive Movie of the Year Golden Popcorn on Sunday. CLICK HERE to read the rest of my report.

MTV Movie Awards: 'The Hunger Games' Big Night

The relationship between the MTV Movie Awardsand "The Twilight Saga," which picked up fourth-consecutive wins for Best Kiss and Best Movie during Sunday's show, is well-documented. The stuff of pop-culture legend, some might say. But 2012 marked the beginning of a franchise with strong potential to pick up the torch for years to come: "The Hunger Games." CLICK HERE to read the rest of my report.

MTV Movie Awards: Winners List

Russell Brand certainly knew his audience at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards. Who can forget the way he would randomly shout, "Twilight! Hunger Games!" during his monologue at the Gibson Amphitheatre on Sunday (June 3)? Considering the massive fan bases for the soon-to-draw-to-a-close "Twilight Saga" and the still-three-movies-to-come "Hunger Games" behemoth, it wasn't hard to predict that both series would leave Universal City, California with at least a few Golden Popcorn statues. CLICK HERE to see the complete list of winners.

MTV Movie Awards: 'The Dark Knight Rises' Footage

The 2012 MTV Movie Awards gave DC devotees and lovers of Bob Kane's most famous creation everywhere the two things we've wanted most from "The Dark Knight Rises" footage thus far: a better look at Bane, the man who broke the Bat, and more time with Selina Kyle in both of her guises. Here's my analysis of the footage. CLICK HERE to read the rest of my report.

MTV: Box Office Report

Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth and Kristen Stewart had plenty of reasons to celebrate at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night (June 3). Not only did Stewart take home her fourth consecutive Best Kiss award for her "Twilight" lip-lock with Robert Pattinson, but the trio's brand new movie, "Snow White and the Huntsman," topped the box office with a strong $56.3 million domestic opening, marking the year's fourth-largest behind only "The Avengers," "The Hunger Games" and "The Lorax." MTV Movie Awards: Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton has added Snoop Dogg and Flo Rida to her forthcoming album, which the socialite and heiress emphasized is full of modern electropop. CLICK HERE to read the rest of my report.

MTV Movie Awards: Martin Solveig

"The Hunger Games" was one of the big winners Sunday night (June 3) at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, where the juggernaut collected several Golden Popcorns against a musical backdrop culled from some of the most iconic film scores of all time. That nostalgia-inducing soundscape came courtesy of DJ Martin Solveig, who remixed themes from classic movies ranging from "Star Wars" to "Pulp Fiction." CLICK HERE to read the rest of my report.

MTV Movie Awards: Black Keys & Johnny Depp

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — The Black Keys brought Johnny Depp's inner rock star front and center on the stage at Sunday's (June 3) MTV Movie Awards, trading licks with the guitar-wielding (and increasingly tattooed) actor through a steady, polished and rollicking performance of "Gold on the Ceiling."

Depp called the band "up-and-coming legends" as he accepted the Generation Award before joining the band again for "Lonely Boy." CLICK HERE to read the rest of my report.

MTV Movie Awards: Russell Brand

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — " 'Twilight'! 'Hunger Games'! These words generate goodwill."

Indeed they do, Mr. Brand! Proving he knows the MTV Movie Awards audience well, this year's host frequently retreated into the phrases "Twilight!" and "Hunger Games!" to liven up the audience, but he didn't need to. His opening monologue simply killed as the motormouthed English comedian launched into a rapid-fire set playfully attacking a wide variety of targets including Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Charlie Sheen, John Travolta, MTV, his own short-lived "celebrity marriage" to Katy Perry and ... Michael Fassbender's penis.

MTV Movie Awards: Best Male Performance

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — "The Hunger Games" stormed the box office to the tune of nearly $400 million, and at Sunday's MTV Movie Awards, the man fans know and love as Peeta Mellark clutched a different type of riches in his hand: a Golden Popcorn. Thanks to the massive number of fans who voted for him, Josh Hutcherson took home the award for Best Male Performance at the 21st annual awards show. CLICK HERE to read the rest of my report.

MTV: 'Hunger Games' Cutting Room Floor

"The Hunger Games" is nominated in several categories, including Best Movie, at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards tonight (June 3). Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and the rest of the cast have surely gotten massive career boosts from the runaway success of the box-office phenomenon. We can only imagine, then, how badly some of the actors who didn't make the cut must feel.

What sort of choices did they make in their own careers that caused filmmakers to excise them from the flick? Elizabeth Banks, of course, won the coveted role of Effie Trinket. In this exclusive MTV "After Hours" episode, the "Zack and Miri Make a Porno" and "40 Year Old Virgin" veteran revealed some never-before-seen footage to MTV News.

Certainly, the army of "Gleeks" would have loved to have seen Chris Colfer in "The Hunger Games," right? Chloƫ Grace Moretz turned up in last month's "Dark Shadows" but who's to say she couldn't have had time in her schedule for the "Games" a little before? This previously lost footage reveals how, for instance, Jeanne-Claude Van Damme would have approached a role in "The Hunger Games." (Here's a hint: It doesn't involve a shirt.)

MTV Movie Awards: Wahlberg Threatens Host

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Mark Wahlberg has a message for the 2012 MTV Movie Awards host: Crack the wrong jokes, Russell Brand, and you'd better duck.

Speaking to MTV News backstage at the taping of Spike TV's "Guys Choice Awards" on Saturday night, the man whose real-life boxing skills were on display in "The Fighter" acknowledged that the English comedian has a reputation for being unpredictable. "I hope he does a good job," Wahlberg cautioned. "I hope he doesn't say nothin' smart about me, because he's going to 'unpredictably' get his ass whooped." CLICK HERE to read the rest of my report.

MTV Movie Awards: Clark Gregg

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — "The Avengers" is now the third-highest-grossing movie in the world. Most likely everyone involved with the mammoth Marvel superhero production is feeling pretty good about all of the success, right? Well, in this special Movie Awards "After Hours" clip, our own Josh Horowitz managed to bring actor Clark Gregg down.

MTV Movie Awards: Obama's First Re-Election Ad

The MTV Movie Awards traditionally feature many leaders from the world of pop culture. This year, the leader of the United States has chosen the Movie Awards to debut his first official re-election campaign commercial. MTV Movie Awards: Biel, Beckinsale To Present

One gal has played a vampire, another a vampire hunter and the third (and most distinguished of them all) hunted a smooth-talking killer who made up for his lack of supernatural superpowers with an overabundance of vampire-like appetite. Jessica Biel, Kate Beckinsale and Jodie Foster have been added to the list of presenters at Sunday's 2012 MTV Movie Awards.

MTV Movie Awards: Best Hero

Harry Potter spent several movies (and books, of course) battling Voldemort, both indirectly and in face-to-face confrontations. Katniss Everdeen's skill with a bow and arrow has kept her alive against considerable odds. Captain America has fought bad guys (like his arch-nemesis the Red Skull) in various incarnations since World War II, whether with the Invaders, the Howling Commandos or the Avengers. His teammate, Thor, has gone up against all manner of sinister foes across all the nine realms, not the least of which being his half-brother, the mischievous Loki. Jenko, from the big-screen version of "21 Jump Street," not only had to contend with drug dealers, but there was the whole "politics of high school" drama too. But right now, all these heroes are facing their most fervent, vocal, communicative, evolving and passionate adversary yet: Twitter.

MTV Movie Awards: Hunger Games vs. Bridesmaids

"The Hunger Games" is a battle to the death, in a world gone mad. But all the archery skills in the world may not save Katniss Everdeen from her most fearsome foes yet: the drunken, surly, vomiting, inappropriate and altogether destructively hilarious women of "Bridesmaids." Kristen Wiig's blockbuster comedy will do battle with the biggest young adult novel to hit the screen since "Twilight" at this weekend's MTV Movie Awards broadcast live from Universal City, California, on Sunday. Who will win? Who will lose? Who will poop in a sink? CLICK HERE to read the rest of my report.

Billboard: Americana Music Awards Nominations

John C. Reilly was feeling under the weather but his love of Americana music was too strong for him to stay down on Thursday morning.

The Oscar-nominated actor and Grammy winning Walk Hard comedian turned up to the Grammy Museum in downtown Los Angeles, as promised, to reveal the list of nominees for this year's Americana Music Association Awards, despite battling a bit of illness in the days prior. "Now there's an Americana actor, right there!" declared Jim Lauderdale, who returned as host for the intimate ceremony and played guitar in the backing band for a short concert featuring Lucinda Williams, Shelby Lynne and Robert Ellis. Buddy Miller led Lauderdale, Don Was (bass), Don Heffington (drums) and Greg Leisz (pedal steel / guitar) behind them. CLICK HERE to read the rest of my report.

MTV: Box Office Preview

Last weekend, "Men in Black 3" finally ended the box-office domination of "The Avengers," which saw the superhero team-up movie smashing world records with the combined might of Thor's hammer, Captain America's shield, Iron Man's snarky wit and the Hulk's green fists. During this MTV Movie Awards weekend, "Snow White and the Huntsman" will do battle against them both, with "Thor" himself, Chris Hemsworth, in one of the title roles alongside Kristen Stewart, best-known for a little franchise called "Twilight."
