MovieWeb: 'Looper' Interviews

"Brick" was the first movie I ever ordered from Netflix and I absolutely loved. I was thrilled to learn that writer/director Rian Johnson would be teaming back up with Joseph Gordon Levitt for the time-travel/action flick "Looper," which also happens to co-star the guy from my favorite action flick of all time ("Die Hard"), Bruce Willis.

CLICK HERE to watch my interviews with Johnson and Gordon-Levitt.

MTV: Box Office Preview

Moviegoers love redemption stories, and this weekend should see a nice comeback for the box office of its own.

After weeks of declining ticket sales theaters finally have a chance to top last year's numbers with the arrival of the kid-friendly "Hotel Transylvania" and R-rated sci-fi drama "Looper."

Billboard: Kreayshawn Album Party

Kreayshawn and Columbia Records are about to discover if "Gucci Gucci"'s 38 million YouTube views translates into sales with the arrival of the Bay Area rapper's album debut, Somethin 'Bout Kreay.

Despite the pressure to build upon the online momentum that put the 22-year old recording artist and music video director in the " Best New Artist" category at last year's MTV Video Music Awards before she had even released an album, the mood was nothing but celebratory in Hollywood Monday (Sept 17) night as Kreay and friends celebrated her album's street date at an intimate party.

MTV: Box Office Report

Box-office estimates put "End of Watch" and "House at the End of the Street" tied for first place over the weekend, with "Trouble With the Curve" not far behind. However, even with four new films in theaters, cinemas were still hurting. CLICK HERE to read the rest of my report.

MTV: Christina Aguilera

When I walked up to Christina Aguilera's house, I thought to myself, "Do all of these places just look the same, or was this Ozzy's house?" Sure enough, it was the same house where I interviewed Ozzy Osbourne almost 10 years ago. He showed me the recording studio in his backyard, where the engineer cranked Sabbath's "After Forever."

This time it was Christina sitting in the same studio. She's changed the decor, but she kept the crosses on the doorknobs. She has a sweet GNR pinball machine, too.

HERE is Christina telling me about her "bad girl" image in her new video and in the past. And HERE we are speaking about about how the contestants on "The Voice" helped inspire her new album.

MTV: Box Office Preview

Clint Eastwood, Jennifer Lawrence, Jake Gyllenhaal and Karl Urban will all vie for the box office crown this weekend.

AP: Green Day When They Were 20

Sex, Squats and Soundgarden: Green Day When They Were 20

AltPress.com has posted some bonus features from my Green Day cover story.

Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt remembers exactly where he was when he first heard Nirvana’s Nevermind. The band’s cultural milemarker had been released a couple of months before Green Day went to Europe in November 1991. “We had saved our money, snuck our records over and borrowed equipment every night for 64 shows,” Dirnt says. “We were sleeping in squats and eating vegan gruel out of a pot dozens of other people were eating from. The snow was four feet high in some towns. I once slept next to a human head in a jar. It was crazy, like, ‘Go sleep on the floor over there. Hope you don’t get scabies.’” He pauses for effect. “And it was rad.”

MTV: Box Office Report

"Resident Evil: Retribution" topped the box office over the weekend and "Finding Nemo 3D" made a splash as well. But even as "The Master" debuted with the strongest per-screen average of the year, ticket sales were still down overall.

MTV: Box Office Preview

It's going to be the early 2000s all over again at the box-office.

Disney is putting "Finding Nemo," the fifth in a string of classics from Pixar Animation, back in theaters in 3-D. The 2003 fish tale will swim toward audiences just as another entry in the "Resident Evil" franchise, which began in 2002, arrives.

MTV: Nina Dobrev on the 'End' of 'Vampire Diaries'

Some shows have a habit of overstaying their welcome. "Sons of Anarchy" creator Kurt Sutter has recently started talking about wrapping up after season seven, which gives him an "end game" in sight from a story point of view. Meanwhile, "Prison Break" was always planned for "prison" in season one and "on the run" in season two. So they had to come up with new ideas for seasons three and four. More than a few fans complained that "Lost" didn't seem to have things planned out far enough in advance. So is there an end game in sight for "The Vampire Diaries"?

Speaking with MTV News at the Toronto International Film Festival, where she was promoting "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," Nina Dobrev had this to say: CLICK HERE to read the rest of my report.

MTV: Box Office Report

The most successful movie at the box office this weekend was originally released in 1981. The weekend numbers were so dismal for theaters that the IMAX re-release of Indiana Jones' first adventure, "Raiders of the Lost Ark," had a stronger per-screen average than any of the 2012 films at the cinema, including a brand-new flick produced by and starring Bradley Cooper. Billboard: VMA After-Party Report

Rita Ora tweeted to her 1.2 million fans that she'd be performing at a VMA after-party, but getting in to see the 21-year-old British singer and Roc Nation artist at the Palladium in Hollywood was easier said than done. MTV and Time Warner Cable threw an intimate bash for the charity Lifebeat, shortly after the VMAs broadcast ended on the other side of the country, attended primarily by advertisers and cable subscribers.

"Jersey Shore" star Pauly D., whose 4 million Twitter followers know all about his DJ career, spun at the party. The night also featured sets from turntablist A-Trak, Graham Funke and rapper Sam Adams. Ora, whose album hit #1 in the UK this week, presented at the VMAs. A-Trak was nominated in the newly-minted Best Electronic Dance Music Award category.

MTV: My Official VMA Recap

LOS ANGELES — It was a night of firsts at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. Green Day, Taylor Swift, Pink, Alicia Keys, Lil Wayne and more performed songs for the first time to music fans everywhere. One Direction made their first-ever visit to the VMAs and scooped up three Moonmen while they were at it. CLICK HERE to read the rest of my report.

MTV: Green Day Backs Pussy Riot

LOS ANGELES — Earlier today, Pussy Riot sent MTV News a video in which they thanked pop stars like Green Day, Madonna, Bjork and Red Hot Chili Peppers for their vociferous support. And on the red carpet at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, Green Day sent the good vibes right back. CLICK HERE to read the rest of my report.

MTV: Calvin Harris Wins Best EDM VMA

The VMAs always recognize the most important movements in pop culture. This year was no exception, with the unquestionably vital Electronic Dance Music scene taking center stage before the festivities even began. The VMA house DJ himself, Calvin Harris, nabbed the Best EDM Video Moonman for his "Feel So Close" during the pre-show leading into the main event. CLICK HERE to read the rest of my report.

MTV: Kevin Hart Advises One Direction

One Direction have single-handedly resurrected the boy-band phenomenon, and this week, they'll take a victory lap at their first-ever VMAs, where they are nominated for Best New Artist as well as Best Pop Video. But for first timers, the VMAs can be daunting. What do you do when you win? What if you lose? Luckily for the British-Irish dudes in 1D, 2012 Video Music Awards host Kevin Hart was on-hand to school them in proper Moonman etiquette. CLICK HERE to read the rest of my report.

MTV: Michael Clarke Duncan Tribute

News of Michael Clarke Duncan's passing sent shockwaves of sadness around Hollywood and the movie fan community earlier on Monday (September 3) that were larger than the extremely talented and warmly charming man's imposing physical stature. Most news outlets rightly singled out his star-making turn opposite Tom Hanks in the Stephen King adaptation "The Green Mile" as his signature role. But we in the comics community counted him as one of our own. CLICK HERE to read the rest of my report.

MTV: Calvin Harris VMA Rehearsal

Expect 2012 MTV Video Music Awards nominee and house DJ Calvin Harris to deliver an "epic" set tomorrow (September 6), according to three lucky people who won the chance to watch him rehearse at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

"That rehearsal was so epic!" Pepsi NOW photographer Michelle Feliciano told MTV News immediately following the EDM artist's run-through. "I felt like we were front row at our own private concert. I'm so excited for Thursday!"

MTV: Dr. Dre's Headphones Make Him Highest Paid Rapper

Dr. Dre rocked Coachella with an all-star cast of collaborators past and present (and even deceased) but his long-awaited Detox has yet to fill his absence from the record shelves. Despite a recent LP release, Dre was still this year's highest-paid rapper. How'd he do it? Beats by Dre, of course, which now accounts for more than half of the high-end headphone market. Dre managed to pass his peers like Diddy, Jay-Z, Kanye West and Lil Wayne, who rounded out the top five. CLICK HERE to read the rest of my report.

MTV: Mac Miller's VMAs Preparations

Mac Miller is taking an athlete's approach to this year's VMAs. He's paying close attention to what he's eating, what he's doing and even what he's watching. The witty MC, who topped the independent label charts with "Blue Slide Park," definitely won't be eating any pink slime as part of his pre-VMAs diet. CLICK HERE to read the rest of my report.

MTV: Snooki / People Magazine

That old saying "one door closes, another door opens" certainly appears to be ringing true for Snooki. "Jersey Shore" may be coming to an end, but our favorite animal-print-loving gal declared that "the partying is long gone" anyway as she posed with her new baby in a tender photo shoot for People magazine. MovieWeb: ILM Technical Interviews

A couple of months ago I had the chance to visit Industrial Light & Magic! There's a Yoda statue out front. Slimer is hanging out inside. I came home with a t-shirt bearing the logo of the employee coffee shop, "Java the Hutt."

I also talked to the visual FX team behind "Battleship," asking questions like, "What's the one item here at ILM you're most excited about?"

And did I mention I put on a uniform and was green-screened into a scene from the movie?!

WATCH IT ALL HERE.

MTV: Shaun White's VMA Memory

Shaun White may have his sights focused on the upcoming 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia, but he's always managed to make time for the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, even if he's just watching at home. Last year, he teamed up with Miley Cyrus to present the award for Best Rock Video to Foo Fighters, who used the opportunity to defend "real rock" during their acceptance speech. But it was a fight of an altogether different kind that he remembered most. Namely, the almost-brawl he saw between Will Ferrell and Tyler, the Creator. CLICK HERE to read the rest of my report.

MTV: 'Vampire Diaries' Season 4 Trailer

We've been squeezing "The Vampire Diaries" folks for information about season four at every available opportunity, and we're happy to report that they haven't steered us wrong! Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley and executive producer Julie Plec told us that things will kick off with Elena struggling through the (spoiler alert, if you haven't seen season three!) human-to-vampire transition and this brand new official trailer gives us a nice taste of exactly that. MTV: Box Office Report

"The Possession" fended off "Lawless" and two-time champion "The Expendables 2" to become the #1 movie in America, but the story most likely to go down in box office lore surrounds the weekend's biggest loser.

Earlier this year, "The Avengers" set the all-time opening-weekend record at the box office. And now, as Marvel's superhero team-up passed the $1.5 billion mark worldwide, 2012 saw a new record for lowest opening weekend for a wide release, courtesy of "The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure."
