Better Late Than Never: Top 25 Movies of 2007

I have (obviously) been sitting on this for a while. I had intended to make this post all spiffy with movie posters, cast and crew credits, and at least a short capsule about what made each movie fantastic, but I realized it's September 2, 2008 and if I don't post this thing soon, as is, then it may not get up here until I'm compiling my "Top 25 Movies of 2008" list.

01. Gone Baby Gone
02. The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
03. The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford
04. There Will Be Blood
05. The King Of Kong: A Fistful Of Quarters
06. Into the Wild
07. The Lookout
08. 3:10 To Yuma (remake)
09. No Country For Old Men
10. Eastern Promises
11. Waitress
12. Michael Clayton
13. Ratatouille
14. Lust, Caution
15. American Gangster
16. Atonement
17. The Interview
18. The Bourne Ultimatum
19. Grindhouse: Death Proof
20. La Vie En Rose
21. Hot Fuzz
22. Before The Devil Knows Your Dead
23. You Kill Me
24. Lars And The Real Girl
25. Sunshine

Full disclosure -- I have yet to see the following well-reviewed flicks from 2007: Charlie Wilson's War, The Hoax, The Host, The Kite Runner, Rescue Dawn, This Is England and Zodiac. I did see Juno, Knocked Up and Superbad, and I liked them all, but they weren't any better than any of the movies on my list and therefore didn't make it into the Top 25. The Simpsons movie was horrible, Live Free or Die Hard was tolerable -- even with a Scrappy Do sidekick who wasn't so bad after all -- but it just didn't live up to the franchise legacy, in my opinion. The less said about Ghost Rider, the better.

I can vouch for This is England and The Host. Both of those movies were awesome.
