Ewan McGregor Interview

I told Ewan McGregor from the outset of our interview that I would do my best to refrain from addressing him as "Master Jedi."

I was there to talk about "Beginners," the intensely autobiographical film from writer / director Mike Mills where McGregor plays a graphic designer coming to terms with the death of his father, portrayed magnificently by Christopher Plummer. Told largely in flashback, we watch Oliver (McGregor) reflect on his parents marriage, his father's late-in-life decision to come out of the closet as a gay man and his own difficulty maintaining relationships. There's humor, there's drama, there's indie-movie quirkiness.
