MTV: Box Office Report

This Christmas, Tom Cruise was "impossible" to beat at the box office.

"Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" was the #1 movie over the long holiday weekend, easily beating competition from two competing sequels with an additional $46.2 million as it expanded into wide release. CLICK HERE to read the rest of my report.

"Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" Interviews

Great, great movie which just enjoyed the third largest opening ever for a film debuting in just four theaters. And yes, I said the words "Sid Vicious" to Gary Oldman. You can watch my interviews with Mr. Oldman, Mark Strong and director Thomas Alfredson RIGHT HERE.

"The Descendants" Cast Interviews

In which I discuss the new movie "The Descendants" with a bunch of people who aren't Alexander Payne or George Clooney. CLICK HERE. Mind you, I will always give props to Matthew Lillard for his performance in the first "Scream." And these folks are all great in "The Descendants."

MTV: Box Office Report

(The dreadful) "New Year's Eve" was the #1 movie over the weekend but had little else to celebrate. The ensemble comedy opened to a soft $13.7 million during what turned out to be the weakest weekend at the box office all year. Jonah Hill's R-rated comedy "The Sitter" debuted at #2 with just $10 million, with both films suffering from overwhelmingly poor reviews from critics.

MTV: Box Office Report

Four movies in, the "Twilight" franchise continues to achieve new "firsts." Over the weekend, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" became the first entry in the romantic vampires-and-werewolves series to maintain the top spot at the box office three weekends in a row.

"Breaking Dawn" collected another $16.9 million, easily besting the $11.2 million claimed by expected champion "The Muppets" during a soft post-Thanksgiving weekend. The latest numbers are the highest third-weekend gross of any "Twilight" film. However, the $247.3 million gross of "Breaking Dawn - Part 1" is still behind where "New Moon" had landed after the same amount of time in theaters. CLICK HERE to read the rest of my report.
